Foster
homes, both for long term and emergencies are always needed. All veterinary
expenses are paid for by AHDR, and some of the food costs.
Transportation to and from the vet, groomer, or a new foster home is always
needed.
Shelter checks are very important. Many area shelters do not routinely call
rescue, but a periodic check of the shelter nearest you to see if any herding
breed dogs are there is invaluable. If so, notify your representative who can
then arrange an evaluation, bail out, foster care, etc.
Training/Grooming is very important in helping a dog be adopted. Many dogs come
into rescue with their coats in very poor shape and a few hours spent grooming
the dog often works miracles on their appearance. A nicely groomed, well trained
dog is much more likely to be adopted than one who isn't.
Donated items or low cost supplies such as crates, beds, food, collars, leashes,
toys, and bowls are always needed. Also needed are items to be used in fundraising
raffles such as dog supplies like those mentioned above or gift certificates
from local businesses.
Monetary donations are of course always greatly needed and appreciated!
